Washington D.C. is not as glamorous as many of the other capitals of nations out there. But give it a chance. It is still relatively young in comparison to great cities like Rome, London, and Paris. Our forefathers did a nice job of taking a useless piece of marshland and turning it into a landmark filled celebration to America. I wouldn’t put Washington in the top five capitals in the world or in the top five cities in the U.S., but it is definitely worth a visit and there is a whole lot to see. The main tourist attractions are centrally located around the National Mall. Stick around here and beware of crime. However most of the criminals are neatly located inside of the Capitol building, so if you stay away from here you should be OK.
